The Queen celebrating her 90th birthday this year is a pretty big deal. Did you know that Queen Elizabeth II is now also the nation's longest-serving monarch? The boys and I spent a day celebrating the Queen's 90th birthday by making and baking using some brilliant party and craft resources from iChild.co.uk.
iChild.co.uk provide free educational resources for parents, teachers and carers of children aged between 0-11. They sent us a pack to help us celebrate the Queen's birthday in style. They included a sample of their educational activities already printed out and ready to use, along with some printed party crafts and a cupcake decorating kit. It's free to create an account on their website in order to print off all the resources you need and you can find all of the activities relating to the Queen here.
The boys really enjoyed decorating their crowns using felt tip pens and gluing on some sequins. We had our little celebration a few days ago, but J is still wearing his crown now! The boys also loved colouring in the pictures of the guard, with Little N colouring his completely red and J colouring his completely blue. Can you tell what their favourite colours are?
iChild.co.uk had sent us more activities to try, such as making a Union Jack flag collage and a "match the crowns" game, but the boys were far too interested in sticking, gluing and colouring in to try them. And by the time they had finished, the cupcakes I'd baked were ready to decorate!
There are so many different printable activities and craft ideas on the iChild.co.uk website, it's great for parents and educators alike. On their website you can find a whole host of printable activities, lesson plans, crafts and more than have all been created using a child-centric approach to learning.
I've bookmarked the site so that I will always have inspiration for activities to do with the boys, especially J who, as my second child, I know I'm guilty of not doing enough with!
Have you been celebrating the Queen's birthday?
