My X Moment with Sony Xperia

To support the launch of their new Xperia X smartphone, Sony have asked bloggers to share some of our most precious, fleeting moments; those blink and you'll miss it moments that help define who you are and the life you lead, or as Sony is calling them, 'X Moments'. As as a parent, we have so many X Moments throughout our children's lives, and it is those moments that define who I am as a mother. I often think how lucky we are to live in the digital age, with the technology that we have at our fingertips that allows us to capture so many of these moments.

For Sony, an X Moment is a “split second in time that means something to you that’s here and then gone. It could be a baby’s first steps, achieving a personal goal, a sporting achievement, your dog’s whimsical expression, or just a random flash of happiness and hilarity. It’s a moment that you’d love to capture perfectly that’s all too missable if you, or your phone isn’t up to the job”.

Without a doubt one of my most favourite X Moments is this image of J, at just two weeks old, when I happened to catch him yawning. His bunched up little nose, his eyes squeezed tightly shut, and his tiny mouth as wide open as it could possibly get. And not forgetting his dinky curled up fist.

It is such a beautiful, funny and bittersweet photo, because with every moment he became that little bit older, that little bit bigger, and that little bit closer to no longer being a newborn baby. It's a photo that I will always treasure and is most certainly an X Moment. If I hadn't have had my phone to hand that day, it would never have captured it. The moment would have been gone, but instead I have it immortalised forever in this picture.

What's your X Moment?
