Beauty Spot: Cacay Naturals Face Oil

Every now and then a new wonder ingredient hits the beauty world, and the latest must-have is cacay oil. It is being touted as the "new argan oil"; an anti-aging elixir that has 50% more vitamin E and twice as much linoleic acid than argan oil, and three times more retinol than rosehip oil. Cacay Naturals sent me a bottle of their 100% natural cacay oil to try so I could find out for myself exactly why people are loving this Amazonian nut oil.

I am a big fan of using oils in my hair and skincare regime, with argan oil still a firm favourite of mine, but until recently I had never even heard of cacay oil! I have since discovered that it comes from the nut of the cacay fruit, which is grown South America. The oil is rich in protein and has been used medicinally for centuries by Amazonian people to treat wounds and skin irritations. As well as being known for its rejuvanating and anti-aging properties, studies have shown that it does actually aid the skin's healing process. Which is pretty amazing!

Some of the benefits of cacay oil are that it:

·         Restores skin radiance.
·         Has emollient properties for long-lasting hydration.
·         Improves skin’s elasticity and the appearance of wrinkles.
·         Helps to reduce facial blemishes and the appearance of scars.
·         Protects the skin against irritation and dehydration.
·         Helps to treat hyper-pigmentation.

Cacay Natural's oil is 100% natural, organic cold-pressed cacay oil, which also happens to be vegan and cruelty-free. It is very lightweight, especially when compared with argan oil which is what the beauty world is rating it against. It's similar to grapeseed oil in texture, with a slightly nutty scent to it.

When the weather turns colder like it has now, my skin becomes very unhappy, often turning dry and sometimes irritated, so the oil arrived at just the right time. I added it to my skincare routine straight away, using it just before moisturising each morning and evening. I have been using 3-4 drops to cover my face and neck and have found that is enough to leave my skin feeling hydrated and nourished. By the time I then put on my moisturiser, the oil has been quickly absorbed and the nutty scent has gone, though I don't find it unpleasant anyway. Just unusual.

From the first use, my skin felt better. It is the intensive boost that my skincare routine so desperately needs at this time of year. I often find myself changing to a richer moisturiser when autumn comes around, but by adding this oil I have just been able to carry on with my usual day cream. I love that there is no residue left and that it absorbs so quickly, so that I can just carry on getting ready.

I have now been using the cacay oil for about three weeks, both morning and night, and I absolutely love it. LOVE IT! During the past year I have written about the troubles I've had with my skin, trying to fight both acne and aging, but at the moment I am so happy with my skin's appearance. I've not had any blemishes since I've been using the oil, nor any dry patches and my skin has a definite glow about it. I think my skin looks and feels more nourished and radiant, and that in turn makes me feel so much better about myself.

I actually surprised myself at just how much I love this oil. I thought I would like it, but I didn't think I would love it this much. It's now a firm favourite and will be a permanent part of my daily skincare routine.

I was sent this oil to review, but you can buy Cacay Naturals Face Oil via Amazon* which is where I'll be buying mine in future. It costs £32.75 for 30ml which will last absolutely ages!
